Invitation to attend WWI Service of Dedication at St George’s Church, Ypres

Parents, staff, Old Bloxhamists and friends of the school are invited to attend a Service of Dedication at St George’s Church in Ypres, Belgium, at 5pm on Sunday 31st March.

Padre Duncan, Chaplain at Bloxham School, will lead the service, during which we will be dedicating a new plaque commemorating the 80 Old Bloxhamists who lost their lives during the First World War.

We are enormously grateful to OB Matthew Dixon (Cr 89-94) and Simon Batten, School Archivist, for their vast levels of research in compiling the histories of these Old Bloxhamists and for shedding light on the scale of the school’s fallen during this war.

St. George’s Church was built as a memorial to British and Commonwealth troops and over 100 plaques have been placed by schools, families and organisations to commemorate those who fought and lost their lives. Please click here to find out more about St George’s Chapel.
