Last weekend, Bloxham Second Form students enjoyed a weekend activity camp in Aberdovey, Wales

Many thanks to George Urquhart, for his review of the recent Second Form camp:

On Friday 5th‘June, Second Form had the fortune to take a trip to the outward-bound centre in Aberdovey.

We arrived at the centre at 2.00pm and were immediately split into teams and given a short tour of the centre. After that we did some team building exercises in our groups and we jogged to the sea and dipped our heads in the water. We then went back to the centre, had tea and packed our bags for the journeys ahead.

On Saturday morning, we went to breakfast and then got into our groups to go on our respective adventures. We all went gorge walking (which involved walking around in rivers and streams). Next we visited a waterfall which reminded us all of Jurassic Park: The Lost World, and after that we were dropped off at our cabins and left to get changed out of our soaking wet clothes into some more suited to our next activity. We had some sandwiches and then we climbed up our mountains and hills, which took us about three-quarters of an hour.

The following day we went to the wharf and got changed into our still soaking-wet wetsuits. We then did a crawl, jump, and swim, which is where you crawl across a rope suspended above the sea, jump off of a platform 10ft high into the sea and then swim against the tide and the ice cold sea to a ladder and you climb out. The only people who managed to successfully complete the crawl part of it were: George U, Tom B, Tom S, Olly Baker, Joss and Miss Reed. Some honourable mentions to Kathleen and Mrs Heathcote who managed to get to the end but couldn’t quite manage to get onto the ladder.

Overall the trip was good fun and everyone will go away with good memories.
