It is with great sadness that we share news of the death of our friend and colleague Julian Berry.

We welcome all members of the Bloxham community to join us in remembering our friend and colleague, Julian Berry, at a memorial service on Friday 23rd March 2018.’

The memorial service will be held at St Mary’s, Bloxham on Friday 23rd March at 4pm, followed by refreshments at school. If you would like to attend, please email [email protected]. A reply by the beginning of March would be much appreciated, thank you.

Julian died suddenly at the end of last term. He leaves his wife Catherine, two sons, Alex (Sy 03-06) and James (Cr 04-07), and his daughter, Harriet (Wf 05-10).

Headmaster Paul Sanderson said: “Julian was a dedicated teacher and a much loved member of the Bloxham community. We are all shocked and saddened by his death and send our love and prayers to Catherine and his family at this very difficult time.”

Julian joined Bloxham School in September 1993 as Head of Maths, a position he held until last summer. He continued to work at Bloxham in a part-time capacity, taking responsibility for the school timetable. There was no area of school life which did not benefit from Julian’s enthusiasm, involvement and kindness. In addition to leading the Maths Department, he contributed greatly to wider school activities, from taking DofE expeditions to running the badminton team. Above all, Julian cared about the individual students in his charge and those that were tutored by him counted themselves fortunate. Julian will leave a very large hole in our community. We have lost a warm and generous person and a great teacher. We shall all miss him.

Julian’s daughter, Harriet, has set up a Just Giving page in memory of her father.
