The Irish Ambassador to Great Britain will address the issue of Europe over the last century in a keynote address at Bloxham next Friday

The Irish Ambassador to Great Britain will address the issue of Europe over the last century in a keynote address to the students of Bloxham School on Friday 26th September 2014.

Dan Mulhall, Irish Ambassador to Great Britain, said: “I am really looking forward to my visit to Bloxham School and meeting with students to talk about my role and the relationship between our two countries and Europe. Meeting with local business leaders will also be an opportunity to highlight the importance of the business partnerships between Britain and Ireland and how they can be enhanced even further”.

Looking ahead to the visit Paul Sanderson, Headmaster at Bloxham School, said: “It is my great pleasure to welcome the Irish Ambassador to our school for what promises to be a unique and exciting day for the students. Europe continues to be topic of considerable debate within the UK and is an important component in many of the subjects we teach. The Ambassador’s visit will offer our staff and students a rare opportunity to hear from someone with first-hand experience of shaping the international debate.”

In addition to his lecture the Ambassador will hold a round-table discussion with leading Oxfordshire businesses on international trade opportunities in Ireland.

Richard Hunter, Chair of the Banbury Chamber of Commerce, who will moderate the trade round-table, said: “Ireland is a key trading partner for the UK and this is a great opportunity for major businesses in the area to find out more about what this vibrant market has to offer.”

During the visit, the Ambassador will join Richard Hunter in a talk to students on entrepreneurship, take part in a Twitter Q&A and formally open Bloxham’s new sports studio.
