Fifth Form student Arthur Urquhart has been selected to compete at the 2015 canoeing Gent Marathon

Huge congratulations to Fifth Form student Arthur Urquhart, who has been selected to compete at the 2015 Gent Marathon.

Arthur has been selected by British Canoeing to attend the Gent Marathon as part of the Marathon Committee Junior Development Programme. Whilst the team is 20-strong, he is one of only five Under 16 boys who have been selected this year from across the country. The purpose of this annual trip is to offer international experience to young paddlers who may make the full GB team in the next few years.’ Selection was based on a combination of age, performance and commitment, and Arthur has had to attend a number of regional training days throughout the winter, together with racing over distances of up to 20 miles.’ In addition to this, he has also made it onto the West Midlands Regional Sprint Canoe squad.

Everyone at Bloxham would like to wish Arthur luck as he continues his training towards the marathon, which is taking place at the end of March.
