At the annual Egerton Society Lunch, we were delighted to host Old Bloxhamists and friends of the School. The sun shone, Bloxham School grounds looked magnificent and members had a thoroughly enjoyable lunch.

The Egerton Society was founded in 2010 to thank and recognise OBs, parents, former staff and governors and friends of Bloxham who provide support by leaving a gift to the School in their Will.

Welcomed by Headmaster, Paul Sanderson, over 40 guests enjoyed fantastic hospitality and beautiful surroundings. After a drinks reception in the Egerton Library, members were served a delicious lunch prepared by the School’s superb catering team.

President of the Egerton Society, John Parker (Cr 61-66), thanked everyone for attending the lunch and for their support. He gave special thanks to his predecessors, the late Peter Barwell who was instrumental in establishing the Society, and to the outgoing chairman Michael Deeley (Wn 52-56). He spoke about the fantastic work of the legacy society and its vital importance in providing financial support to help ensure the future success of the School and its community.

Guests then heard from the Headmaster who conveyed his enormous gratitude to all the School’s supporters and shared wonderful news that in the past couple of months there had been two significant donations which could potentially support two full-time borders with entire seven-year Bloxham education. He spoke about how donations and legacy gifts are already benefitting current students by helping them to achieve their aims and goals and carve successful pathways and futures.

Our speaker was Old Bloxhamist and current parent Mike Lee (Cr 93-98) who benefitted from bursarial support during his time at school. Mike spoke passionately about his school days both in terms of the education but also his experiences on the sports fields and through broader curriculum activities, in particular being given the opportunity to join an expedition to Norway which he fondly remembers to this day. After leaving Bloxham, Mike followed his passion into land and farming and his first job was on a large farm where he was quickly promoted to Farm Manager. He has forged a highly successful career and is now Director at Dalcour Maclaren, a property and environmental consultancy to the utility and infrastructure sectors. Ending the afternoon’s speeches, he expressed his enormous gratitude for the financial support he received and skills he learnt during his years at Bloxham, which has led to his success today.
