We are thrilled that so many OBs continue to play sport long after leaving School and during the course of this Lent Term there has been much to celebrate with OBs in the rugby world.

Sean Baker (SH/Mn 18-20)

Sean, representing Newcastle University, has been selected for the 2024 England Universities Rugby League Squad. While at Bloxham, Sean played for the 1st XV gaining full colours. He played Rugby League for the London Broncos U18 throughout his time at School.

Bath rugby player Alfie received a call up to play for the England A Team against Portugal in February. The team won convincingly and Alfie had a fantastic game, scoring a try and was tipped by rugby news website, ruck.co.uk, as a “generational talent… showcasing his versatility and strength in the back row.”

Felix Hunt (Cr 16-23)

Last year leaver Felix has played for Banbury RUFC 1st XV and he scored a try on his debut. In January, he was awarded ‘Man of the Match’.  In a comment after the game, a Banbury team representative said: “He runs like he’s angry at the grass!” At school, Felix was Captain of the 1st XV.

Amber Reed (Staff 13-15)

Amber, Captain of Bristol Bears,  was selected for the 2024 England 6 Nations Squad. She is this season’s co-captain at the Bristol-based club.

OBs Reunited at Oxford Harlequins

L-R: Ed Yates, Scott de Weymarn and Alex Caviezel Cox

In February, three Old Bloxhamists were reunited at Oxford Harlequins. Alex Caviezel Cox (Cr 12-14), captain of Kenilworth, played against Ed Yeates (Eg 12-14), who was playing his 100th game for the home team. Oxford Harlequins were victorious, winning 53-17. The referee was Scott de Weymarn (Cr 07-12).

We are delighted for the OBs mentioned above, as well as the great number of our alumni who also continue to play club rugby for our local team, Banbury, and for a variety of other clubs at all levels.
