The annual OB Day saw a large number of Old Bloxhamists amass at Bloxham to take part in a number of activities throughout the day

This year’s Old Bloxhamist Day on 16th November began with a memorial service for the late Douglas Perrin, who was a hugely-respected and treasured teacher at Bloxham between 2002 and 2010.

The Old Bloxhamists’ AGM took place at midday, then followed by a lunch for members of the 200 Club. This clubwas founded by OB Peter Barwell to raise funds for the Old Bloxhamists. A part of this lunch saw 32 prizes drawn for the ever-popular 200 Club raffle – which members enter for the chance to win the 400 guineas (around ‘420) top prize. Congratulations to Mrs Grizelda Parrington who was the winner at this event.

The next activity on the day’s programme was a hugely exciting match between current girls and a strong OBs side. Push back came around at 2:00pm – the Old Bloxhamists had put forward a strong team of girls who have all played First Team hockey over the last five years. This was evident throughout the match with some good passing hockey resulting in them scoring a goal very early on. In spite of some good counter attacking by the current Bloxham girls, the Old Bloxhamists continued to dominate the first half with the score being 4-0 at half time. Bloxham started out stronger in the second half, connecting with each other better to produce more goal-scoring opportunities. However, the Old Bloxhamists had most of the possession entering their attacking D and scored some great goals, most notably a hit from the top of the D by Sam Humphrey’s into the right corner. Regardless of the scoreline Bloxham continued to fight hard with Abi Oram making some great saves. This also resulted in a goal being scored towards the end of the match. The final score was 8-1 to the Old Bloxhamists. Despite the scoreline all girls involved enjoyed the match and we are already looking forward to next year’s Old Bloxhamist match.

The Old Bloxhamist Day is a lovely event and always brings together a lot of familiar faces. Thank you to everyone who supported the event.
