On Sunday Old Bloxhamists returned to Bloxham School for All Saints’ Tide. This traditional annual Old Bloxhamist Day has become a popular event in the OB calendar with a number of activities happening at school throughout the day.

The day began with Chapel led by Reverend Duncan Weaver, the school’s newly appointed Chaplain. The small but strong congregation enjoyed a communion service, Headmaster Paul Sanderson read the Parable of the Bags of Gold and during the sermon we were encouraged to reflect on our hopes, wishes and considered the theme of success. The service ended with the school hymn, For All the Saints.

At midday, the Old Bloxhamists’ Society AGM took place, where the Committee thanked outgoing Chair Dominik Wellmann for his many years’ service, and voted in new chair Jolyon Griffiths. The 200 Club then met for their bi-annual lunch in the Large Dining Room and 32 prizes were drawn for the 200 Club raffle. Founded by OBs Peter Barwell, the club raises funds for the Old Bloxhamists.

The All Saints’ Tide programme of events continued with a fantastic and entertaining ladies hockey match cheered on by a crowd of over 40 spectators. Push back was at 2pm and the school girls 1st XI team hosted a strong OBs side, captained by Charlotte Boland and vice captain Alice Heathcote. Both sides played exceptionally well, showing great energy and skill. The final score was 3-0 to the Old Bloxhamists. Each side voted for a Players’ Player and trophies were awarded to Emily E and Mollie Paxford.

The day was concluded with a few words by Simon Batten, Old Bloxhamist Resident Secretary, thanking OBs of all ages, from far and wide, for coming and supporting the events. Please click here to see photos from the day.
