At the weekend, the school welcomed Old Bloxhamists who left between 1940 and 1974 for the annual Egerton Society Lunch.
The Egerton Library was filled with laugher and chatter as old friends reminisced over their time at Bloxham, and caught up with one another’s news. The party then moved into the small dining room to enjoy lunch and to hear from the guest speaker, Denis Norman (Wn 41-48), pictured above on the right with his wife, June, and chairman of the Egerton Society, Peter Barwell. Denis shared with us a charming and riveting account of his career which included heading the Commercial Farmers’ Union of Zimbabwe, and serving as first minister of Agriculture, Transport, and Power, in Mugabe’s government. After living in Zimbabwe for some 50 years, he is now enjoying life back in the UK.
The Egerton Society was set up in 2010 and gives philanthropic OBs the opportunity to contribute through legacies, to a very important Endowment Fund so that a Bloxham education can continue to be made available to talented boys and girls for generations to come.
