The Spring Meeting 2014 was held at Copt Heath on Wednesday 21st May for Greenway Trophy.

On a lovely warm day, in complete contrast to the previous year, much quality golf was played and followed by an excellent dinner. There were good scores by John Lilwall and Ian Cooper, with the leader board tightly packed at the top, the consistent Robin Olley returned 35 points and one point further ahead, it was Tony King’s day as he just pipped playing partner Simon Smith on count-back, courtesy of a spectacular bunker shot on 17 for birdie. Not too difficult for most, but almost impossible for the left handed Tony, who now holds both trophies. Hopefully he will time his trips back from the Far East to defend his titles. Peter Murray-White presented the prizes in recognition of the rare event of there being no Murray-White on the leader board!!!

Congratulations also go to the EGU’s John Williams, although not called upon to make any difficult decisions for the OBs, has been appointed to referee at this year’s Open Championship at Royal Liverpool in July. Well done John.
