The Bloxham School community came together in worship last night for the annual Carols by Candlelight service, led by Father Alex Ladds, School Chaplain.

In the style of a Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols, the service included performances from the School Choir including Rutter’s Candlelight Carol and Basque Christmas folk-carol The Angel Gabriel. The Choir also sang the premiere of The Christmas Tree Carol by local composer, Andrew Hansford, who was in the congregation. We celebrated the festive season by listening to gospel readings by students and the Headmaster, Paul Sanderson, as well as singing traditional carols. The service ended with a rousing rendition of O Come, All Ye Faithful, accompanied by a powerful brass and organ fanfare.

There was a retiring collection in support of Katharine House Hospice.

It was a beautiful service, and we were grateful to the Reverend Dale Gingrich, the Bloxham Parish Council and the congregation of St Mary’s for their generosity in hosting the Bloxham School Carol Service.
