Joining Bloxham
We welcome applications from students of all nationalities. While we are happy
to accommodate applications from individual students, in the following markets –
Germany, Russia, Spain, Hong Kong and mainland China - we prioritise those from
our preferred agents. If you would like to become a preferred agent, please email the
Admissions Office, who will be happy to hear from you.
The majority of students join at Third Form (13+) or in the Lower Sixth (16+).
Competition is strong and we advise early registration to secure a place.
Students will normally visit the school and those wishing to register will be asked, via
their agent, to provide relevant school reports and a handwritten 200 word outline of
themselves and why they want to study at Bloxham. Students who are unable to visit
the school will be interviewed via Skype, where an initial assessment of their language
skills and interests is taken.
Upon successful completion of our entrance tests, applicants who have visited the
school will be offered a place. Those who have not been able to visit in person are then
interviewed for a second time via Skype before an offer is made.
Entrance Tests
Entrance tests will normally be taken at school. Occasionally, and at the
discretion of the Admissions Office, papers may be taken elsewhere,
provided adequate invigilation can be guaranteed.
Entrace at 13+ and 14+:
Internal English and maths papers; Oxford English listening test.
Entrance at 16+:
Those wishing to study maths will sit an internal maths paper. All
other applicants will need to be able to show, through their reports,
the ability to achieve an equivalent to GCSE grade 6 or above in the
subjects they wish to study at A Level.
