Our congratulations go to Urssie L. who has been longlisted for the Vaulting Junior World Championships 2021.

Equestrian vaulting is described as gymnastics and dance on horseback, which as you can imagine takes much practice and physical strength. Urssie, now age 16, began vaulting at age 9 and joined competitively at age 13. In 2019, her team represented GRB in the European championships for seniors (pictured above).

Urssie has been selected individually based on her most recent international scores, with the’Championships due to be hosted in Les Mans, France this summer. Urssie added, “I am really pleased to be longlisted. It has always been a goal to be selected individually as the classes are much larger and harder to qualify for.”

Although opportunities for vaulting competitively have been slim in the past year, she has been able to compete in two virtual events, winning one with her own horse at home. “It was extra special to win with him as he’is only young and it was a great experience for him.”

We look forward to reporting on Urssie’s World Championship success in August 2021.
