Bloxham School House Shout 2015!

On Friday 16th October, after weeks of preparation and some seriously disciplined rehearsals, House Shout proved to be one phenomenal evening!

Fresh from her composition work with the BBC, Sally Greaves had the unenviable task of judging the most eclectic, imaginative and confident performances Bloxham School had to offer. Lower School opened the evening’s instrumental section with a rendition of The Black Eyed Peas’ Tonight’s Gonna Be a Good Night. Each of the performances in this section showed real flare and virtuosity, before Wilson were crowned champions with their rendition of Skyfall.

Wilberforce began the Part Song category with their original arrangement of Gotye’s Somebody I Used to Know, winning the section. Other highlights from this section of the competition included Seymour’s Chinese Dragons for their take on Make a Man Out of You from Disney’s Mulan, and Egerton’s choreographed performance of Bare Necessities. Sally was particularly impressed by Raymond’s performance of Somewhere over the Rainbow and their use of the melody as a round.

In the unison section Wilson’s achieved victory with their careful arrangement of Let’s Get it Started, but Crake’s performance of Sweet Caroline certainly ended the evening with musical power, commitment and some serious fun.

So Wilson were the overall winners on the night but everyone who had the chance to participate or watch in the audience had a fantastic evening of fun. The evening was a clear demonstration of just how much musical talent there is to be celebrated here at Bloxham.
