Lower Sixth Students Embark on Gold D of E Practice Expedition

Gold D of E practice During the October Half Term break, three groups of Lower Sixth students successfully undertook their Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award practice expedition in the Brecon Beacons, Wales.

The teams had great weather for the time of year and only had rain on one morning! They were treated to a stunning lakeside wild camp with views over the surrounding hills on the first night.

All the pupils improved their navigating and campcraft, they also learnt new skills for getting around the mountains of South Wales. The pupils found the four days challenging, but worth the effort and returned with enthusiasm for the assessed venture that will take place over Easter in the Lake District.

Miss Redrup, Head of Outdoor Education said: "Congratulations to the participants who acquitted themselves well over the four days and should be very proud of their achievement. Also, a thank you to the staff who gave up their time to assist and camp!"
