Welcoming Jane & Sophie: New Head of Lower School & New Housemistress of Park Close

We are delighted to announce that as of September, Jane Cochran will be taking over from Tom Tuthill as Head of the Lower School.

Jane has been a Modern Languages teacher and Lower School tutor at Bloxham for two years. Prior to Bloxham, she spent 14 years as a Languages teacher, nine as Head of Department at Wood Green School, Witney; and later, as a Head of Department at Chenderit School, Northamptonshire. With her team, Jane hopes to build on Tom’s excellent work to help our youngest pupils become independent learners, with the skills and qualities they will need to be successful in their later years at Bloxham and beyond. On her appointment, Jane said, “I am delighted to be appointed as Head of Lower School, I never cease to be amazed by the energy and pace of life in Exham House!”

Jane will be joined by Sophie Heathcote, who will take over the reins as the new Housemistress at Park Close from September. Sophie joined Bloxham in 2004 as a sports coach. In 2013, she became Lower School’s Sports Coordinator before extending her reach in Exham to become a tutor and then Assistant Housemistress of Park Close in 2015. Sophie will take responsibility for all boarding and pastoral care of the Exham House boarders.

We look forward to welcoming Jane and Sophie in September and know that they will lead the youngest students at Bloxham with passion and professionalism.
