Last week’s Careers Breakfast Club saw our student have the opportunity to meet and chat with an architect and a barrister

This term’s Careers Breakfast Club saw Bloxham School students welcome barrister, Sarah George, and architect, Mark Smith, who came in to offer insights into their own careers and advice.

Below are the reviews of a couple of students who attended March’s Careers Breakfast Club.

Holly Killick:
Last Monday we were very lucky to have Sarah George come and talk to us about life as a barrister. What I found most interesting was her approach to being a mum and working in Law- she explained to us what it takes to juggle her job with having’family. Sarah also explained how much of a life choice it is to follow a career path into Law- the long working hours both in court and at the bar- and what is expected of you within the role. However, the section I found most useful was when Sarah discussed making the transition to university and beyond. She showed us what universities and future employers are looking for, as well as encouraging us to pick the right courses and paths to get there. I was very grateful for the time Sarah took to come and see us and all the useful information she gave us.

Charles Krabb’:
I went to this term’s Careers Breakfast having already decided that I want to study quantity surveying at university. Whilst Mark Smith wasn’t a quantity surveyor but an architect, talking to him and listening to his experiences was an extremely helpful exercise. Mark’s talk allowed me to understand the importance of a quantity surveyor to an architect and exactly what the job involves at the start of a building project.’
