With the new school year underway, let us introduce you to our 2021-22 Rugby and Hockey Captains.

Mr Lovering, Acting Head of Rugby, and Miss Smith, Head of Hockey, provide the following summaries on their captains:

Stan D – Rugby Captain

“I am really pleased to have Stan as our 1st XV captain this year. Stan is the type of player who leads by example, always looking to work hard for others around him. Stan is a fantastic scrum-half, however he always wants to work and improve his game which makes him a very grounded character. Not only will Stan do a brilliant job leading the 1st XV, he will be a great leader for all age groups. I am very excited to see him progress throughout the season.”

When asked about his role next year, Stanley had this to say:

“I really cannot wait for this upcoming season. Having been away from rugby for such a long time now, everyone seems so excited to be back. Our fixture list this year is really exciting with a lot of challenging opponents and having seen the team at pre-season it looks like its going to be a very successful season across all the years!”

Annie C – Hockey Captain

“I am pleased that Annie accepted the captaincy for this coming season. We are very lucky that Annie brings a wealth of hockey experience to Bloxham and I look forward to seeing her lead by example on the pitch. Girls’ hockey continues to go from strength to strength and Annie will play a pivotal part going forward in mentoring and inspiring our younger students coming through”

When asked about her role next year, Annie had this to say:

“This year I am proud to be captaining the First Hockey Team this season. I am hoping that this season we will be stronger than ever with the team always staying determined and committed and playing the best that we can play. Regardless of the situation, regardless of the scoreboard, we will be successful because we’ve put in all the time, all the effort, all the hard work, and I know that it’s going to pay off.”

We wish the best of luck to all pupils in their first fixtures this weekend and to Stan and Annie for their first matches as Captains against Malvern College.
