The Eunoia* Society involves the school’s award holders in a programme of events and visits designed to supplement and enhance the school curriculum.
This serves to widen their horizons and stretch the more able. The Society has attended external lectures, exhibitions, the opera and ballet. Recent visiting speakers have included an art historian, a US diplomat, a professor of biophysics and a senior civil servant. Increasingly, pupils themselves have delivered talks to their peers on topics as varied as political correctness, game theory and the legacy of the British Empire.
There is an expectation that Scholars will attend all the programme’s events and the invitation is sometimes widened to include other interested groups of pupils and parents.
Eunoia* is the shortest English word containing all five main vowel graphemes. It comes from the Greek word εὔνοια, meaning "well mind" or "beautiful thinking."
