The Music Department at Bloxham School are proud to be introducing an Organ Scholarship to be awarded to a student at 16+ who demonstrates a high level of musicianship.
This is a unique opportunity for a young musician to work in a "hands-on" role within a school and church environment, bringing with it a lot of experience and responsibility. To be considered, candidates should have already achieved Grade 6 or 7 on the organ and must be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience of choral and organ music.
The successful candidate will be offered free organ tutoring by the school's organist, Sebastian Thomson, in preparation for associate and fellowship organ examinations; will have the opportunity to attend organ masterclasses in Oxford and will also receive a reduction in school fees.
In return, the scholar will be expected to work alongside Sebastian Thomson, performing in a number of Chapel services at the school each month, as well as one Sunday morning and evening service a month at the local Parish Church. The student will also offer musical leadership within the school community and will be expected to attend all school services.
For further information regarding this exciting opportunity or if you would be interested in applying, please contact Bloxham's organist and Head of Academic Music, Sebastian Thomson FRCO (DipCHD).
