Bloxham Life
Bloxham - A Woodard School

Faith, Unity and Vision

Nathaniel Woodard founded 11 schools throughout Britain between 1848 and 1880. Bloxham, which had been founded by Philip Reginald Egerton in 1860, joined the foundation in 1896. Although each school within the group, which has risen in number to over 40 schools today, is run as a separate entity, membership ensures that many educational, spiritual, administrative and financial benefits accrue.

The Chaplain plays a key role in each and every Woodard School. He leads the worship in chapel and encourages pupils to explore questions of spirituality, both during formal services and through contact with groups and individuals. This can include preparation for confirmation for any pupils who choose it. He can also offer pastoral help and encouragement at any time.

As a Woodard School we place considerable emphasis on both Christian teaching and excellent pastoral care. Our pupils benefit from a strong moral and ethical framework that helps them and other pupils grow up with a clear set of values. They will learn to respect  others and also themselves and to engage in the world around them. The chaplain plays a major role in our community, acting as a guide to pupils and staff.

Our values are based on the assumption that we must do the best for every member of the School, academically and pastorally. Our philosophy is to recognise and reward effort and achievement, and to be pro-active in helping pupils overcome any problems they may face.

Bloxham expects its pupils to behave appropriately, to respect its rules and exhibit good manners. Hence the disciplinary structure is clear and firm, but fair.
