Bloxham Life
Bloxham activities - something for everyone!

While much of a pupils' social life at school will be connected with friendships made within each house and across houses there are many activities which can be viewed as whole school activities. We encourage our students to consider a wide range of options open to them and to embrace new areas of activity as well as develop existing talents.

Sport: As you would expect from a school of our standing, Bloxham offers a very wide range of sports and fields teams in competition against other schools in various age groups. As a relatively small school we sometimes find ourselves competing against much larger institutions but this is never used as an excuse and our results bear testimony to the fact that we 'punch above our weight' in achieving excellent sporting records across a wide range of sports. Facilities for sport are outstanding with a well equipped sports hall, fitness suite, climbing wall, two artificial grass playing fields, hard court tennis facilities, squash and fives courts a rifle range, an indoor swimming pool and extensive and well maintained playing fields.

Off campus we indulge in polo, clay shooting, sailing, canoeing and horse -riding. Individual as well as team sports are well catered for with fencing, judo and shooting amongst the most popular.

Drama and Performing Arts: Bloxham is well equipped for the performing arts with a vibrant music centre with a performance space and music technology facility and a range of individual and group practice, rehearsal, and lesson rooms. A wide range of instruments are taught utilising the large team of visiting music specialist staff. Orchestras, ensembles, bands, and choirs are available to join and the pupils often combine their collective talents to form their own groups with opportunities to perform for those who make it to the point where they have a repertoire!

Great Hall is the usual venue for major concerts and plays. This large facility has undergone a series of makeovers recently and now boasts an excellent sound and lighting system and new retractable raked seating greatly enhancing the occasion for the audience.
A concert in the Sam Kahn Music School
A new stage is planned and also a space for a dance studio! The school drama department offers several opportunities throughout the year ranging from the traditional house plays to full school productions. Apart from the Great Hall the School also has a smaller, more intimate space just off the main campus. This skilful reworking of the former Bloxham Wesleyan Chapel houses our wardrobe facility and is where the bulk of theatre workshops are undertaken. With seating for around 60 this offers a very different feel to the much larger central hall.

CCF and Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme:

The Bloxham CCF .

Bloxham has burgeoning CCF (Combined Cadet Force) which is available to all as a voluntary activity from the 3rd Form upwards. The CCF goes off on regular camps and exercises and there is excellent cooperation from the Services who support our efforts. Students can also be prepared for and take the prestigious Duke of Edinburgh Awards. These remain popular even in these days of examinations in each of the three final school years.
