Music at the Middle School
Third Form students study Music throughout their year, developing skills of performing, composing and appraising both in preparation for the GCSE course and in support of a lifetime of musical enjoyment. Through a miscellany of musical styles, students look at modern recording technologies and experience our recording and editing facilities at first-hand as well as exploring the cultural significance of music in England and abroad.
GCSE students prepare for examination according to the OCR specification. This exciting and hands-on course develops the core skills of performing, composing and appraising and our students do this in ways which emphasise their interdependence. Across the course, students produce two compositions and two performances for assessment alongside developing an understanding of musical styles and genres.
