Lamda
External examinations of the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art
Bloxham offers pupils the opportunity to take LAMDA exams in either Acting or The Speaking of Verse and Prose.
As well as preparing a variety of pieces for performance, the candidates learn about voice production, literary theory and stagecraft before taking the exams in the school’s Wesley Theatre early in the Summer term. These exams not only complement English and Theatre Studies courses but also provide a way for sixth-formers studying other subjects to demonstrate interest and ability in the area of drama and literature.
Bloxham pupils have an excellent record of achievement in these exams, particularly in the advanced grades (6-8). Exams taken at this level also gain UCAS points for successful candidates up to a maximum of 65 points for a Distinction at Grade 8.
