Jonathan Cooper has just received official notification that he has been awarded an Arkwright Scholarship.
This has come after passing the Arkwright Aptitude paper demonstrating flair and originality in solving Engineering Design problems and presenting GCSE work to a panel of interviewers in the Spring.
The selection process culminated in an interview for those shortlisted. These interviews were held at a variety of Universities and the candidates were set a team exercise that gave them some insight into the challenge and excitement of engineering related careers.
The award, which provides funding for future Design and Technology projects, will be presented formally on 29th October at a gathering at the Institute of Engineering and Technology, London.
The Arkwright Trust was founded in 1990.
In 2010, 803 students applied of which 441 were interviewed with around 250 such candidates winning an award in the form of a Scholarship.
