House Colours

House Colours Tie

For many Crake boys this is the award that they strive to achieve, more than any other. It is awarded for their contribution towards the following interhouse sports:

Rugby, Hockey, Cricket, Badminton, Squash, Tennis, Athletics, Swimming and X-Country.

A boy playing in a senior team could be awarded 6 pts, for making a major contribution, or 3 pts, for a minor contribution.

A boy playing in a junior team could be awarded 2 pts, for making a major contribution, or 1 pt, for a minor contribution.

Points are never awarded merely for having taking part.

The magic total, required to gain House Colours, is 24.

The best sportsmen will gain this honour in their 5th form whilst anyone, willing to make a consistent contribution throughout their time in Crake, should reach the 24 pt total by the end of their U6 year. Some boys who join Crake at the start of the L6 year still manage to gain their House Colours.

The tie, with broad bands of red and black, is worn with great pride by all those who reach the 24 pt target.

House Merit Tie.

A House merit tie is awarded for a contribution towards three house events, such as House Party, House Shout, House Play, last night of Michaelmas Term, organising a weekend event, etc.
