General Information
Adverse Weather Policy

Predictably no sooner has Term started and we receive warnings of severe winter weather heading our way!

We hope that it is useful to put down what will happen in the event of really bad weather which is likely to mean snow and ice.

* School will remain open for all who can safely get here. It may be possible for additional bed spaces to be found in individual Houses for occasional boarding but parents would need to contact individual housemasters/ mistresses for the exact position on this. Lower School pupils should contact Nick or Nuala Irvine on 01295 721712 or 724332.

* The bus service will run for as long as it considered safe to do so. You will be contacted if the service is suspended at any point and we would welcome calls advising of poor local conditions to avoid putting anyone at risk. Please call either your normal driver or Glenn Poynter on 07717 858 502.

* It is possible that day pupils needing  to make a journey (including our own bus routes) may be allowed home early on any particular day when conditions are set to worsen. If this is the case we will endeavour to contact parents but in any event the situation will be flagged up on this website and up to the minute information will also be put on Sportsline the number for which is 01295 724 370. Where possible we will ask your children to make contact with you to advise you of their earlier return plans. Please let us know if you wish us to hold onto your children until a later hour when you can collect if that is more appropriate.

NB:  Boarders and those who live locally will continue with lessons and activities as far as is possible and will not be excused those lessons.

* If we are subjected to a protracted period of severe weather and pupils (or their teachers) are unable to reach school we will post work on the internet to be accessed from home together with other contacts and suggestions to assist.

We are of course hoping that none of this will be necessary - but we are at least prepared for all eventualities.
