Lower School Boarding House - Park Close

Park Close

Park Close is the idyllic home of the Lower School's weekly boarding cohort. Situated a short walk off the main campus and set in its own gardens and grounds, the House can accommodate approximately 24 children, with the girls' bedrooms occupying the top floor and the boys' the middle. There is an excellent social space, well equipped with television, piano, a Wii, IT kit and popular games (all for when the weather prevents outdoor fun). Meanwhile, the outside space includes a cricket pitch, tennis courts and astro cricket nets.

Our Head of Lower School, Tom Tuthill, is also House Parent at Park Close, alongside his wife Claire, who took up their positions in September 2015. They work hard to understand each individual's needs, ensuring all children settle quickly and feel Park Close is a home away from home. Tom and Claire live on-site with their three children- Isabella, Daisy and Jack. Tom has been at Bloxham for six years- having previously been Director of Sport for three years, he now teaches Politics and Key Stage Three Geography. Claire is a maths specialist and has spent her entire working life in a prep school environment. Tom and Claire are supported in the House by their Assistant Housemistress, Sophie Heathcote, who also works in Lower School, as well as the Tutor team who do evening duties once a fortnight.

Boarding is very flexible- it can be all week or just a couple of nights a week and short-notice stays can be accommodated as long as there is space in the House. Evenings are busy for Lower School Boarders, with a well-run programme of events and activities, including theatre trips, film nights, sports and swimming, bowling nights, a table tennis and climbing club and other seasonal excursions.
