Bloxham’s 23 metre swimming pool was re-furbished during summer 2014 and is an excellent facility for our many swimmers. Pupils enjoy expert coaching from a former swimming international who works with them to develop individual training programmes focusing on strength and technique.

Bloxham stages two major internal competitions based on the inter-House system. In the Lent Term we run a House Standards Cup. Points are obtained for one length of each stroke, 10 points for a Gold Award, seven for Silver, four for Bronze and one for a Competent Swim.  Swimmers may attempt the Awards as often as they wish during an eight week period, with their fastest time on each stroke counting towards their final score.  In the Summer Term we have the Inter-House Swimming Gala, a short but exciting contest with the result frequently going to the wire and depending on the outcome of the final team race.

Many of our pupils enjoy swimming for recreation and a number take swimming as the physical component of their Duke of Edinburgh Award.
